HOW IT WORKS

Hair is only as strong as the scalp it grows from. A scalp that is congested, dry or inflamed produces weaker hair, and weaker hair breaks before it ever gets long enough to look full.

Root Revival works on both ends of that at once. The botanicals calm and condition the scalp with antioxidant and gentle antimicrobial support, then coat the strand to reduce the friction that causes breakage along the length.

The result is hair that looks fuller because less of it is snapping off, on a scalp comfortable enough to keep growing it.

INGREDIENTS

The botanicals

• Charged Purified Water (Aqua). The carrier that delivers every botanical below into the scalp, and the reason this serum is oil free.
• Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum). Rich in protein and mucilage. It conditions the scalp and softens the dryness that leads to breakage.
• Hibiscus (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis). Adds slip and suppleness to the strand, so hair tangles less and snaps less when you brush it.
• Clove (Syzygium aromaticum). Warming and clarifying. It helps keep the scalp environment balanced and fresh between washes.
• Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis). One of the most studied botanicals in scalp care. Antioxidant, and long used to support the appearance of fullness.
• Black Seed (Nigella sativa). Rich in thymoquinone. It supports scalp comfort and helps limit the shedding that comes from irritation.
• Sandalwood (Santalum album). Calming and grounding. It soothes the feel of an irritated scalp, and its quiet woody scent softens the smell of the botanicals around it. No synthetic fragrance anywhere.

The base

• Glycerin. A humectant. It draws moisture to the scalp and stops the serum from drying tight overnight.
• Salicylic Acid. Gently clears the build up of dead skin, sebum and product that blocks a healthy scalp.
• Benzyl Alcohol and Sorbic Acid. The preservative pair. Any water based product must be preserved or it grows bacteria within days. These two are the gentlest effective option we could find, and both are accepted under recognised natural cosmetic standards. We would rather name them plainly than hide them behind the word “preservative”.

Full ingredient list: Aqua (charged), Trigonella foenum-graecum seed extract, Hibiscus rosa-sinensis leaf extract, Syzygium aromaticum flower extract, Nigella sativa seed extract, Rosmarinus officinalis leaf extract.

HOW TO USE

Spray it through your scalp and hair at night. Start with all seven nights a week, then ease back to three or four.

Cover the whole head. Part the hair and spray directly onto the scalp, massage it in with your fingertips, then work the rest through the lengths.

Let it air dry completely before you get into bed. That takes 30 minutes to an hour and a half, depending on how long and how thick your hair is. Then leave it in and let it work overnight.

Start nightly, then taper. Your scalp does most of its adjusting in the first few weeks, and nightly use is what gets it there. Once it settles, three or four nights a week is enough to hold the result.

About the scent. Real botanicals have a real smell, and there is nothing synthetic in here to cover it up. The sandalwood does most of that work on its own, and by morning most people notice nothing at all. If you do notice it, simply wash it out when you get up. If you do not, leave it in and let it keep working through the day.

WHAT TO EXPECT

You rise to it. Shine and softness show up from the first few mornings, and your scalp settles within two to three weeks.

Any change in how full your hair looks takes 8 to 16 weeks of steady use, because that is simply how fast hair grows. There is no way to shorten it and anyone who says otherwise is selling you something.

On grey, we make no promises. The evidence for reversing grey is limited and results vary from person to person. We would rather tell you that than take your money on a maybe.
